~Today's Truth~

“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion--to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair,” (Isaiah 61:1-4 NIV).

  1. That's a special scripture to our family. Our fourth child was diagnosed with a heart condition on Christmas Eve 2005, right before we were about to take him home. He would need surgery. I had worked in Cardiology as a technologist for 13 years, and was very distressed waiting on the doctor and the test results. After the ultrasound, the cardiologist told us he had been at church, and the pastor had just read this scripture when his pager went off to see our son. He truly came "to bind up the brokenhearted". Jonathan went on to have surgery that next week, and went home only 4 days after his open heart surgery. That was over five years ago, and he's a happy, healthy little boy! Thanks for sharing this scripture!
